SWAT/K9 Integration:

Q. Who should attend SWAT/K9 integration training?

A. The course is designed for law enforcement SWAT operators, K9 handlers, SWAT operators, supervisors, and tactical commanders seeking to improve team efficiency and safety during real-world deployments. K9 handlers are the only students required to pay for the course. We encourage SWAT operators to attend for free to assist with team movement and handling of SWAT-related equipment.

Q. What makes your training different from others?

A. Our training is led by a seasoned SWAT Team Leader and certified K9 instructor with decades of field experience. We combine real-world deployment knowledge, national standards, and scenario-based training to ensure no dog—or handler—is left behind.

Q. What types of missions can an integrated SWAT/K9 team assist with?

A. Integrated teams are valuable during high-risk warrant service, barricaded subjects, hostage rescue, open-air takedowns, and building searches where speed, control, and officer safety are critical.

Q. Will the students/K9 handlers be required to decoy during the course?

A. Yes. The best-case scenario is that agencies provide experienced decoys in addition to the students/K9 handlers attending the course. Decoys can attend the course at no cost, and it is a good experience for future K9 handlers.

Q. What are the course training times/hours?

A. Training times will depend on the host agency’s training locations, scheduling availability, and time of year. The preferred schedule is 1300 to 2200 hours, allowing students to train in low-light conditions. Each training day consists of eight hours of instruction, including a one-hour lunch break.

Q. How much does the SWAT/K9 Integration Course cost?

A. Currently, we are offering a discounted rate of $500 per handler. If the host agency can help register a total of 10 handlers, they will get one free slot. The cost of the class covers instruction, airfare, hotel accommodations, vehicle rental, and meals. Closed courses for single agencies are available.

Q. What equipment do students need for the class?

A.. All basic K9 equipment, including leashes, muzzle, E-collars, harness, ballistic vest, bite suit, bite sleeve, and prosthetics. Non-K9 equipment: Bear or Bear Cat, blue bolts for .223, simmunition guns and ammo, marking cartidges, blank rounds, ballistics shield, flash-bangs, less-lethal, and any other equipment a K9 may encounter during a deployment, such as drones and robots.

Use-of-Force Analysis & Expert Testimony:

Q. What services do you provide as a use-of-force expert?

A. We review police reports, body-worn camera footage, witness statements, photographs, and training records to evaluate whether force—particularly K9 deployments—was reasonable, necessary, and aligned with industry standards and case law. Complete a written analysis of all materials reviewed and a conclusion.

Q. How much does a Use-Force Analysis/Review cost?

A. Every case is unique and requires different levels of analysis. As a result, the cost is calculated on an hourly basis at $150 per hour (minimum of four hours for initial review).

Q. Who do you provide expert testimony for?

A. We provide independent analysis and courtroom testimony for attorneys, municipalities, and law enforcement agencies.

Q. How much does Expert Testimony cost?

A. Cost of Expert Testimony:

  • $ 1,000 for the first day of courtroom testimony.

  • $500 per day for any additional days.

  • Per diem ($75 per day, including travel days), Airfare, Lodging, and Vehicle Rental payments are required two weeks before the service date.

  • C4K9 transportation cost ($ 0.70 per mile/Federal Rate and airport parking). Payment is required within two weeks of the service date.

Q. What makes you qualified to evaluate K9 use-of-force cases

A. With nearly three decades in law enforcement—serving as a SWAT operator, Team Leader, K9 handler, and unit supervisor—alongside certifications as a defensive tactics instructor and national K9 instructor, we bring unmatched operational and instructional expertise to every review.

Q. Do you only handle K9 cases?

A. While our specialty is K9 use of force, we also review broader use-of-force incidents involving officer tactics, decision-making, and compliance with established legal standards such as Graham v. Connor and Tennessee v. Garner.

Public Speaking & Leadership Development

Q. What topics do you cover as a public speaker?

A. Speaking engagements focus on leadership vs. supervision, resilience in high-stress professions, navigating PTSD and moral injury, lessons from tactical policing, and building cohesive law enforcement teams.

Q. Who is your audience?

A. We present to law enforcement agencies, training academies, professional associations, universities, and corporate groups seeking lessons in leadership, decision-making under pressure, and mental health awareness.

Q. Why include PTSD and leadership in your services?

A. After decades in high-risk law enforcement roles, we understand the toll trauma and poor leadership can take on officers and organizations. Sharing these lessons helps others build healthier careers and stronger teams.
